Skin in the game
Time for our first update of 2025!
In November, Goodchild Marine created a temporary mould tool – a specialist wooden frame that’s used to create a skin mould and then built up internally. Using a temporary tool gives us much more flexibility than a permanent one as changes can be made more easily.
Tool erected, Goodchild created a skin mould for the hull and IPS housing and laminated it with multiple layers of GRP (with some areas up to 40mm thick around the IPS). With the housing for the IPS now moulded and laminated into place, the entire skin for both hulls is complete!

For the next stage of the project, Goodchild are building and installing the internal frames which are then glassed in. These will support the hull and give e-Ginny her shape and strength.
We’re also eagerly awaiting the delivery of the propulsion systems from Volvo Penta and Danfoss, currently in transit to the UK.
With exterior structure nearly complete, we’re quickly approaching a major milestone of the project – finally putting e-Ginny in the water to move her to Goodchild’s yard, scheduled for 17th February, so watch this space!
