A major new milestone for e-Ginny!
Goodchild Marine this week installed the Volvo Penta IPS30 “legs” (or lower units), to which the counter-rotating propellers will be fitted to facilitate a smoother thrust.

With fantastic support from Alicat and Prior Power, we were incredibly impressed at their speed of delivery - having originally earmarked an entire day for the installation, it only took 2.5 hours to install all four legs!

Propellers attached, we’re now working with Volvo Penta on a new design to plug the gap at the rear of the legs, normally used for engine exhaust, to improve their hydrodynamics. We’re committed to making e-Ginny extremely energy efficient and give her the greatest range possible, so we’re thinking outside the box to remove weight and limit drag wherever we can.

Our next major event will be finally floating e-Ginny, currently scheduled for 5th March and towing to Burgh Castle on 7th March. As usual, watch this space for more updates!
