Tidal Transit wins Green Innovation Award for pioneering work on e-Ginny E-CTV retrofit
Tidal Transit Press Release 07-May-2024
Tidal Transit, supplier of purpose-design crew transfer vessels (CTVs) for the offshore wind industry, has won the award for Green Innovation at this year’s Humber Renewables Awards.
Now in its twelfth year, the annual event celebrates innovation, progress and success in the clean energy industry across the Humber region. The panel of judges for the Green Innovation category looked at companies innovating new, low-carbon technologies and approaches for accelerating the transition to clean energy.
A leader in offshore wind transport electrification, Tidal Transit was chosen for its landmark ‘e-Ginny’ project, a world’s first diesel-to-electric CTV retrofit. Upon completion, the electric crew transfer vessel (E-CTV) will not only boast zero operational emissions, but also offer increased safety, more manoeuvrability, and lower noise pollution than its diesel-powered counterparts.
The groundbreaking electric vessel retrofit will help demonstrate the real-world impacts of E-CTVs for decarbonising offshore wind. Having been operating in the region for more than 13 years, Tidal Transit’s e-Ginny will set a new standard for crew transfer in the Humber and the North Sea.
Adam Wright, director at Tidal Transit, commented: “We’re delighted to have been recognised for our hard work electrifying the offshore wind transport sector in the region. We’re looking to transform the industry to be cleaner, safer and more sustainable. Awards like these give us even greater encouragement to continue on our mission to reach a fully electrified offshore wind sector.”
Leo Hambro, commercial director at Tidal Transit, said: “The Humber Renewables Awards are a testament to how quickly the East of England is becoming a major hub for energy innovation. The event gave us the fantastic opportunity to rub shoulders with the Humber’s best and brightest, and we’re looking forward to working further with partners from around the region to help accelerate the transition to clean energy.”
